There aren't many things in life that you can get for free, except on June 1st in Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Free Fishing Day waives all fishing fees for one day and even offers free fishing day events to help kids get started.

Free Fishing Day does not apply to waters in the National Parks or on the Wind River Reservation. All fishing regulations, creel and size limits, gear restrictions and stream closures remain in effect.

State parks across Wyoming also participate in Free Fishing Day.

The first Saturday of June each year is Free Fishing Day across the Cowboy State, which allows families to try fishing without needing a fishing license. If you didn't know, anyone over 14 must purchase a fishing license and a conservation stamp in Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has all of the fishing regulations online at their website, WGFD.WYO.GOV

Wyoming Game and Fish Department designates the first Saturday of National Boating and Fishing Week as a free fishing day when anyone can fish in Wyoming without a fishing license. National Boating and Fishing Week is a celebration that highlights the importance of recreational boating and fishing in enhancing the quality of life and preserving our country’s national beauty.

Also, don't forget that if you're using a boat, canoe, kayak, or other floating device, you must get an AIS decal and inspection before launching your watercraft on Wyoming waters.
