A short-lived high-speed chase took place in Yellowstone National Park on June 13. It's not the type of chase you'll see on the 5 o'clock news in a big city, but one you're more likely to see in Wyoming.

The chase featured a large German Shepherd in hot pursuit of a young wolf in Yellowstone National Park.

It all started when the wolf was making its way to a carcass on the side of the road. Because it was tourist season, traffic was moving slowly or, in some cases, had stopped along the road with passengers out of their vehicles.

One of the cars in the slow-moving traffic is the one in which the German Shepherd was in the backseat. As the car slowly passed the wolf, the dog jumped out of the opened window, and the chase was on.

When the wolf noticed the dog approaching, the yearling began to retreat, eventually swimming in the Yellowstone River. When the dog's owner saw what was going on, they quickly began reversing toward their dog and were able to get the dog back into the car. Luckily, there were no injuries to the wolf, dog, or any of the spectators.

Pictures of the chase were captured and posted on Facebook by Yellowstone Insight. The post has garnered over 7,000 comments, 27,000 reactions, and 6,500 shares in the few days since being posted.

As always, the comments are worth reading. Some are mad at the dog, some are mad at the wolf, and some are mad at the stopped traffic and the people trying to take photos of the situation.
