Important Tire Changing Steps That Wyomingites Need To Know
If you were to ask how to change your car's tire, there's a good chance you'd get a "deer in the headlights" look, a shoulder shrug, or a reply of "Call AAA." The thought of doing it haunts some, while others can do it with their eyes closed.
I always feel old when I use the phrase "when I was young," but "when I was young," my cousin and I built demolition derby cars. If you've ever been involved with a derby, building a derby car, or watching a derby, you know that changing tires plays a big part in getting your car ready for the derby.
We were never really that successful, but we sure changed a lot of tires, and we got good at it, too. We would change tires to change tires, so when we needed to do it quickly, we could do it without any issues.
If you weren't lucky enough to grow up like I was, you might never have even considered how to change a tire if you had a flat. The most important part is being ready for a tire-changing situation if you ever need to.
Tips for preparing to change A tire:
- Know where your jack, tire tools, and spare tire are stored.
- Know how to assemble the pieces of your jack.
- Know where to place your jack.
- Know the order of the process.
- Get the jack, tire tool, and spare tire from their storage compartment.
- Break loose the lug nuts.
- Jack up the car high enough to fit the tire tool under
- Remove lug nuts
- Remove the flat tire and replace it with your spare.
- Put lug nuts on the studs.
- Lower the jack.
- Tighten the lug nuts.
- Place your jack, tire tool, and flat tire back into your storage compartment.
- Remember to get your flat tire repaired. Usually, whoever repairs the tire can put it back on for you. If not, follow the same steps.
It sounds like a difficult task, but if you practice changing your tires before you need to, you'll be fine.
