Man Hit by Semi, Killed While Changing Tire on I-80 Near Laramie
A man was hit and killed while trying to change a tire on Interstate 80, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
It happened around 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27 near mile marker 326, between the Happy Jack Road and Vedauwoo Road exits, about 10 miles east of Laramie.
According to a fatality crash summary, 49-year-old Pennsylvania resident Ilkholm Ibrahimov had gotten out of his pickup and was standing in the right-hand, westbound travel lane changing the tire on his flatbed trailer when he was hit by a westbound semi and killed.
The trucker was not injured in the crash.
The summary says it was clear and the interstate was dry at the time of the crash, but it does not list any possible contributing factors.
Ibrahimov's death brings the total number of people killed on Wyoming's highways in 2023 to 145. Of those fatalities, 34, or 23.45%, occurred on I-80.
