The Bolts got nine of the 17 first-place votes. The two-time state champs are led by two-time all-state shortstop Macie Selfors. Their crosstown rival, Campbell County, is right behind them. The Camels won the first title back in 2021 and have finished third in the last two seasons. They are led by three-time all-state selection and reigning Gatorade Player of the Year Avery Gray. Campbell County received five first-place votes.
Two more crosstown rivals were third and fourth in the preseason poll. Cheyenne East checked in at No. 3. The Thunderbirds were the runner-up last spring. They picked up one first-place vote. Just three points back were the Cheyenne Central Indians, who also got a first-place vote and at least one vote in all five positions of the rankings.
The Cody Fillies completed the poll in fifth. The Fillies also received votes in all five spots. Cody was 1-2 at the state tournament last spring. The Fillies bring back three all-state players from last season.
Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Rock Springs, Wheatland, and Green River also received at least one vote in the poll.
