Wyoming High School State Track Championships Preview 2024

The 2024 all-class Wyoming High School State Track Championships are Thursday through Saturday in Casper. Girls’ and boys’ teams from around the state will compete at Harry Geldien Stadium located at Kelly Walsh High School. The defending girls’ team champions are Saratoga, Big Piney, Powell, and Cheyenne Central. In the boys’ outdoor track, Burlington, Big Horn, Powell, and Natrona County won the four classes last year.

Several individual state champions are returning from the 2023 state track meet. These are broken down by classification.

In Class 1A Girls: Bryli Groll, Cokeville (800m, 1600m, 3200m); Addison Barnes, Cokeville (100h, 300h, high jump); Angie Logsdon, Southeast (pole vault); Sophie Louderback, Upton (long jump); Harper Boche, Southeast (discus).

In Class 1A Boys: Drake Plowman, Cokeville (800m, 1600m, 3200m); Wyatt Trembly, Dubois (300h); Quincy Paris, Midwest (high jump); Kyler Winters, Burlington (pole vault); Ethan Schiller, Upton (triple jump); Kaben Pickett, Encampment (discus, shot put).

In Class 2A Girls: Micah Strong, Big Piney (100m, 400m, 800m); Melody ZumBrunnen, Lusk (200m, triple jump); Jolynn Jones, Big Piney (1600m); Emma York, Big Piney (3200m); Laynee Walker, Kemmerer (100h, 300h, pole vault); Alyssa Slade, Pine Bluffs (high jump); Jolee Swasey, Kemmerer (long jump); Jessica Hoffman, Pine Bluffs (discus).

In Class 2A Boys: Gavin Stafford, Big Horn (100m); Keaton Mills, Sundance (high jump); Caleb Kilbride, Tongue River (long jump); Mitchell Birkhofer, Pine Bluffs (shot put).

In Class 3A Girls: Desirae Iacovetto, Wheatland (100m); Cherise Douzenis, Worland (200m, 400m); Madison Antonino, Pinedale (3200m); Mya Hutchings, Mountain View (high jump); Mylie Micheli, Mountain View (pole vault); Lily Nichols, Wheatland (long jump); Katy Dexter, Pinedale (discus, shot put).

In Class 3A Boys: Carson Eardley, Mountain View (100m); Reed McFadden, Lander (400m); Trajn Swalstad, Worland (3200m); Carter Bradshaw, Lyman (pole vault); Isaiah Woyack, Powell (triple jump).

In Class 4A Girls: Addie Pendergast, Sheridan (100m, 200m, 400m); Kammi Merritt, Star Valley (300h); Taliah Morris, Cheyenne East (long jump); Karson Tempel, Cheyenne Central (triple jump); Brynn Sybrant, Natrona County (discus).

In Class 4A Boys: Habtamu Wetzel, Star Valley (3200m); Christopher Wilson, Green River (300h); Maddix Blazovich, Rock Springs (pole vault); Landon Walker, Kelly Walsh (triple jump); Hadyn Fleming, Cheyenne Central (discus).

The state track championships begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday. They will finish at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s action starts at 9 a.m. Friday will be done around 6 p.m., while Saturday will wrap up at about 4:15 p.m.

The track meet will run on a timed schedule.
