There are plans afoot to bring downtown Casper, Wyoming, back with new apartment buildings and - now - a grand hotel.

Much like the new apartment building that is nearing completion in the Yellowstone district, this boutique hotel will rise up in the same area.

Projected opening date set for early 2027.

The latest press release shows the location on the corner of West Midwest and South Ash Street, and branded C.H. Bixby, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton Hotel.

Expect a wonderful view of Casper Mountain from the hotel roof.

You'll also find a street-level restaurant and a bistro/coffee shop.

This latest project is a joint venture between Casper-based Brick & Bond and the Sioux Falls, S.D.-based KAJ Hospitality.

“C.H. Bixby is a cornerstone investment that reflects our belief in Casper’s future,” said the press release.

The firm has also invested in the OYD, building a set of luxury townhomes on the same block as the new proposed hotel, and partnering in the Yellowstone Apartments complex nearby, which is now under construction.

They also own and manage several historic properties in the area. So it seems like they have a plan for that part of Casper and are heavily investing in it.

Visit the KAJ Hospitality website to learn more about their plans for Casper and other parts of Wyoming, as well as surrounding states.

A six-story, 104-unit apartment building is close to completing construction.

The project covers a 1.6-acre lot and is called the “Wildcatter Addition.”

The city considers it a subdivision that will be all inside one building.

You can see the work underway at West Yellowstone Highway and South Oak Street.

The project, being built on empty lots, will consist of two newly configured lots.

Lot 1 is being proposed for the multifamily residential project called The Yellowstone.

At this time, there are no plans for what will fill lot 2.

The Yellowstone was designed by the Casper-based Brick & Bond Real Estate and Development and the Minneapolis-based Stencil Group.

The estimated time until completion was about 18 months, and they are close to that goal.

The elevator shaft stretches much higher, showing how tall the building will eventually be.

I searched for apartment floor plans, but could not find any that have been released at this time.

The next question on everybody's mind will be, How much for an apartment? No word on that, yet.

But it appears that this place will be on the upper end of the price scale.

The Tate Geological Museum Casper Wyoming

The Tate Geological Museum was founded in 1980 through a gift from Marion and Inez Tate. It was originally designated as the Tate Earth Science Center and Mineralogical Museum. Because ‘geological’ encompasses earth science, mineralogy, and paleontology, the name was changed to the Tate Geological Museum in 2001.

Located on the Casper College campus, the museum is a great resource for the community. Many local schools and groups come to the museum to add to their student's learning experience.

Tate houses a collection of over 6000 fossil and mineral specimens.
