FINALLY: Snow & Cold for Wyoming This Week
FINALLY - some cold and snow this week. If you put that coat away, you'll want to bring it back out again. It is not the end of winter yet. Not by a long shot.
We've been waiting for it, and what is coming will be a good amount, though you have seen far worse. This system will bring a lot of wind.
Monday will be much like what you have seen this winter, warm and dry.
Tuesday, the system begins to move in, and by late in the day, we will see temperatures drop overnight and a chance of some kind of weather.
Wednesday, colder still, and here comes that snow. It is about time.
Thursday, you'll wake up to temperatures in the single digits with daytime highs in the 20s for most of the region. There might be a little snow left over.
Friday, colder, maybe some more snow.
We will begin to warm up as we move through the weekend. But, sorry, winter, you have a lot to make up for. Everyone else across the northern hemisphere had a BRUTAL winter, but you paid us no mind.
WHY THE STRANGE WEATHER THIS WINTER? Wyoming and other western states have had a warm and dry winter due to a high-pressure system that usually forms over Alaska, but this year parked itself much closer to us. That bent the jet stream around our area. That system has finally moved out. Here comes a little winter.
We have quite a bit to make up for. Our region needs more mountain snowpack and something to wet down the prairies.
