This Wyoming Ghost Asked To Haunt This Place
There is a dead woman inside the wall of a hotel in Cody, Wyoming. It's a true story, and she asked to be there.
She is called Miss Kate. Her full name is Catherine B. Arnold. She arrived at the Sheridan Inn in 1901 when she was 22 years old.
Miss Kate worked at the inn for 64 years as a seamstress, desk clerk, hostess, housekeeper, and family caretaker. That is a long time to work in one place. But such employment was typical back then. She had many skills, so she was always useful.
She passed away in 1968. Since she had spent so much of her life at the hotel, she figured that she would like to stay there. So how about a grave outside? NOPE!
Her final wish was to remain --- INSIDE!
Don't worry. It's not her entire body. She was cremated, and her ashes were placed and sealed inside the wall of her third-floor room.
To this day, it is said that Miss Kate never truly left. Folks feel her spirit. Some have claimed to have seen it. She continues to walk the hallways and care for the old Inn that she loved so much. It is said that ghosts are often confused and trapped. Not Miss Kate. She is the ghost that is right where she wants to be.
The Historic Sheridan Inn in Sheridan, Wyoming, is where Buffalo Bill Cody once staged auditions for his Wild West show from the wraparound porch. It was one of his favorite places to hang out.
