The 90th Missile Wing has released the name of an airman who died in an on-duty incident at F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 20.

In a Thursday news release, the Airman was identified as 21-year-old Brayden Lovan. The release says Lovan was a defender assigned to the 90th Security Forces Squadron, 90th Security Forces Group.

According to the release, Lovan entered active duty on Nov. 6, 2023, with F.E. Warren being his first assignment. He had been assigned to the 90th Security Forces since May 8, 2024.

Death Involved The Discharge Of A Firearm

The release says his death involved the discharge of a firearm, but the exact circumstances are still under investigation by  the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Safety office in collaboration with the Air Force Security Forces Center and Headquarters Air Force Security Forces."

The release says Air Force investigators will be conducting full safety investigations of M18 handguns to make sure they are safe.

In the words of the release “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Airman Lovan,” said Col. Jeremy Sheppard, 90th Security Forces Group commander. “We mourn the loss of a valued defender, teammate and friend. Our focus remains on supporting the family and team during this incredibly difficult time. In moments like these, we are reminded of the strength of our military community and the community we live in, coming together to grieve, honor and care for one another.”
