Laramie County Inmate Accused of Attacking Jailer
An inmate at the Laramie County Detention Center is facing a felony charge after he allegedly attacked a jailer.
According to a booking sheet, the alleged attack happened on Saturday morning, March 30.
Arresting Deputy Graham says inmate Johnny Lee Jones, a 57-year-old Cheyenne transient, became irate and combative with a deputy and struck the deputy on the wrist before forcefully striking the deputy with open hands in the chest.
The force reportedly caused the deputy to stumble a distance backward and caused pain.
Graham says as the deputy attempted to create distance and call for additional deputies to respond, Jones continued to advance on the deputy in an attempt to continue his physical attack.
Graham says after a brief moment, Jones was secured in his cell.
Jones is now facing an interference with a peace officer - bodily injury charge, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
