6-Year-Old Wyomingite Dead After Running in Front of Side-by-Side

A 6-year-old Wyomingite is dead after being struck by a side-by-side, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

It happened around 1:33 p.m. on June 27, 2024, at milepost 138 on Wyoming 51 near Gillette.

Race Turns Deadly

According to a fatality crash summary, the side-by-side was racing an ATV in the right-of-way when the child ran in front of the side-by-side and was struck.

The summary lists speed as a possible contributing factor.

This is the fourth reported juvenile and the 43rd reported person to die on Wyoming's highways so far this year.
