A 40-year-old Wyoming man is dead after crashing his motorcycle near Douglas over the Labor Day weekend, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 near mile marker 1.5 on Wyoming 59.

According to a fatality crash summary, Ray Daugherty was riding southbound at a speed too fast for conditions when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson, went off the right-hand side of the highway, hit a ditch, and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Daugherty was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries.

Wyoming Records Its 18th Motorcycle Death for the Year

Daugherty is the 61st reported person and the 18th reported motorcyclist to die on Wyoming's highways so far this year.

Funeral services for Daugherty will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas. The interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
