Kozak says besides catching commercial trucks breaking the law, the effort also targeted passenger cars that were driving unsafely around commercial trucks. The sheriff says over the course of the three days, 177 traffic stops were conducted, including 82 of commercial motor vehicles. A total of 51 citations were issued for various violations, and 32 illegal immigrants were arrested during the special enforcement effort, and those people were turned over to ICE.

Kozak says legal truck drivers were supportive of the effort, honking and waiving at deputies and in some cases taking the time to personally thank them for keeping the trucking industry and the highways safe.

''Hopefully now the word is out. This is not the county that you want to truck around and find out. When I say truck around, I mean drive a truck undocumented, unlicensed, and unsafe"
