A 26-year-old Cheyenne man who was hit by an SUV while riding his bicycle in southeast Cheyenne Sunday evening has been life-flighted to a Colorado hospital, police say.

Public Information Officer Alex Farkas says the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. near the 800 block of North College Drive.

Farkas says preliminary details show that the man was riding in the southbound lane when he was struck by a gray Dodge Journey traveling in the same direction.

"The man was wearing dark-colored clothing and his bicycle did not appear to have any lighting," Farkas said in a news release Monday afternoon.

"The driver showed no signs of impairment and remained on-scene to assist officers with their investigation," she added.

The crash remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
