Get Ready For Community Garden Kickoff Day In North Casper
With summer right around the corner, gardens are at the top of many Wyomingites' minds—especially those getting ready for the Community Garden Kickoff Day, which is coming up Saturday in North Casper.
The Urban Thistle Farm & Market was a dream to offer an added solution for those in Casper who have fallen on hard times and need help obtaining food. The garden allows those in the community to receive fresh food for free from the garden.
The food is grown in the garden organically to provide the healthiest options possible. The garden includes an orchard, a kids' play area, and a community event space. It's an excellent way for the community to unite and help each other.
You've heard the expression, "It takes an army," right? It is true. When you're in crisis mode, and your kids are hungry, you should be able to turn to your neighbor. The community garden is the outlet you can look to.
On Saturday, May 17, you can see the progress of the Urban Thistle Farm & Market and meet the team of 'Farm Techs' from around the country who have traveled here to prepare it for the season. The members of the 'Farm Tech' squad are former members of the Americorps and traveled here on their own dime.
Come out and support the hard work that's already been done and the continued work that will continue to happen.
Local vendors will sell garden-related items and live music, and staff will happily share their vision and goals for Urban Thistle & Market. The event will be held at the garden, which is located at 1014 Glenarm in North Casper, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
