A Casper man was arrested for domestic violence charges Monday after he allegedly hit a woman with a frying pan and strangled her.

Casper police arrested Eric Christopher Bain, 29, on recommended charges of domestic battery and strangulation of a household member.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Casper police were called to Wyoming Medical center at roughly 4:45 a.m. after receiving a report that a woman was in the ER after being hit and strangled.

The woman told police that she and Bain were in an apartment as Bain was cooking a steak in a frying pan and drinking whiskey. When the woman asked Bain about the steak, he allegedly got upset and hit the woman with the frying pan several times, according to the affidavit.

Charging documents say Bain was smoking a cigarette, which fell on the victim's arm and burned her. Bain then dropped the pan and grabbed the victim's neck for several seconds, causing her to become lightheaded.

A friend drove the victim to the ER, the affidavit says.

Medical staff determined that the victim had a mild concussion, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says that when officers went to the apartment, Bain said the victim hit him with the fying pan.
