The high school rodeo season is headed down the stretch with a stop in Newcastle last week. On the ladies' side in Saturday's session,  Ashlyn Goven of Rozet ran 14.066 to place first in the barrel racing, Tavy Leno of Sheridan had a time of 2.57 to place first in the breakaway roping, Raelee Caldwell from Gillette had the best time in the goat tying in 6.82 with Rayne Grant of Wheatland placing first in the pole bending in 19.995.

For the boys on Saturday. Tuker Carracato from Saratoga had a 68 in the bareback for 1st place, Roady Marsh of Minatare, Nebraska had a 59 in the saddle bronc with Jase Longwell 2nd with a 57, and Cheyenne/'s Brenson Bartlett had the only qualified ride of the day in bullriding with a 68. In the boy's timed events, Bohdi Coombs from Wellington, Colorado had a 6.13 in steer wrestling with Conner Weese of Farson 2nd, Cord Herring of Veteran had the best time in the tie-down roping in 12.520. The team roping winners were Tate Bishop of Burns and Jhett Longwell of Thermopolis in 10.94.

In Sunday's session for the girls, Jordan Morman of Gillette won the barrel racing in 15.384,  defending national champion Haiden Thompson won the goat tying in 7.56, Raelee Caldwell of Gillette had a time of 2.81 to win the breakaway and Rayne Grant of Wheatland made it 2 for 2 for the weekend in the pole bending with a clocking of 19.692.

On the cowboy side of things on Sunday,  Roedy Farrell of Thermopolis had the best effort in the bareback with a 71, Jase Longwell of Thermopolis won the saddle bronc with a 62 with Hayden Welsh of Gillette carding a 70.5 to place first in the bullriding. Rozet's Trenton Sheehan had top honors in the bull doggin' at 6.67 and Coy Thar out of Rozet had a great time of 8.58 in the tie-down roping. The team roping winners on Sunday were Thomas Gould of Douglas along with Coy Thar with a time of 8.010.

This week's high school rodeo will be in Gillette.
