Hit The Road: Mastering Dual Towing In Beautiful Wyoming
Wyoming adventures await us all this summer, and you may be wondering how in the heck you're going to be able to haul all of your toys at the same time as your camper.
The simple answer: Dual hauling.
Wait, what? Can you actually do that? Can you attach a trailer to your truck and then attach another trailer to that one?
Yep.
For some reason, the old Jeff Foxworthy "You might be a Redneck" joke comes to mind.
If you haul your camper, side by side, and four-wheeler with one truck...you might be a redneck.
I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "If you put your mind to it, you can do anything," throughout your life. It's true. Anything is possible, even getting all of your toys to the same place at the same time.
I've been considering buying a travel trailer, but I also want to take the side-by-side with us on our trips. The problem I see is a growing number of dollar signs.
There are a couple of options.
- Take two vehicles to pull both trailers
- Buy a motorhome and tow the side-by-side
- Buy a toy hauler and only tow one trailer
- Recreational double towing
Wyoming is one of the states that permits recreational double-towing. If this is the chosen option, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
The total length of the tow vehicle and both trailers can't exceed 85 feet. The first trailer must be securely attached with a proper hitch, and both trailers must have appropriate lights, braking systems, and safety chains.
It seems like quite the undertaking to double tow, but the option is there.
