For many people, summer is their favorite season. But, after hovering over a fan for a couple weeks, some people start to pray for snow. If that person is you, you are in luck. Our winters have been somewhat mild over the last few years. Granted we have seen our share of freak winter storms, but overall it has been borderline tropical, compared to winters of the past 50 years.

The Old Farmers Almanac is predicting a big winter this year. According to the Almanac, the winter is going to be way colder than we have been used to in the past few years.

The coldest periods will be in early and late December and early and mid- to late January. Precipitation will be slightly above normal in the north and below normal in the south. Snowfall will be above normal in the north and below normal elsewhere, with the snowiest periods in late November, mid- to late December, and mid- to late February.

Looking ahead at next summer, the Almanac also says that summer 2017 will be "cooler than normal, with slightly below-normal rainfall."

Bottom line: if you are sick of summer... winter is coming.
