Another wildfire in the Medicine Bow National Forest located north of the Colorado Border has grown to about 500 acres. The Squirrel Creek fire, south west of Laramie, is burning near Lake Owen.

It was discovered Saturday afternoon. On Sunday fire personnel assisted the Sheriff’s Department in evacuating residents and the public from the Fox Creek Road area.

Pre-evacuation notices remain in effect for residents of Woods Landing, Fox Park and Albany.

Meanwhile the Arapaho Fire northwest of Wheatland has burned over 75,000 thousand acres. Some structures have been destroyed but the area is still too dangerous to allow a detailed assessment.

In western Wyoming The Fontenelle fire is be held at 45,000 acres with 5 percent containment.

No structure damage has been reported, but the fire is said to be causing considerable economic impact with shut down of gas, oil and helium production in the area.
