It's been an exciting year in Yellowstone National Park for geysers. Steamboat Geyser just erupted for a record-tying 29th time this year.

After being dormant for four years, Steamboat woke up in a big way in 2018. According to the Geyser Times website, it erupted for the 29th time the night of November 28.

Another interesting aspect of the awakening of Steamboat Geyser is it has taken on a somewhat regular eruption pattern. If you look at the Geyser Times eruption dates in 2018, it's almost always been a 7 to 8 day interval.

Could it be that Yellowstone now has another "faithful" geyser to rival Old Faithful? Not quite yet, but the renewal of Steamboat is definitely something to keep your eye on.
