Suspect Jailed After East-Side Walmart Robbery
A Casper man has been jailed after prosecutors say he robbed the Walmart on Casper's east side with an airsoft gun.
Steven Russel Knox, 44, faces aggravated robbery and felony property damage charges.
Prosecutors say the incident happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday. According to charging documents and eyewitnesses, a visibly drunken Knox revealed a handgun and threatened the life of a store employee while in a checkout line. He then walked off with over $430 in merchandise.
Knox then allegedly bolted through the store’s parking lot toward the east-side McDonald's and Burger King after using the butt of his gun to break through a locked glass door. Police later found Knox at the First Interstate Motel.
During the investigation, police found an empty airsoft gun box in the store’s housewares department.
Upon arrival at the Natrona County Detention Center, Knox blew a .12 and advised the nursing staff that he took five CCs of heroin earlier that night.
Knox faces up to 10 years in prison on the property damage charge and between five and 25 years in prison on the aggravated robbery charge. Knox may also be fined up to $10,000 on the property damage charge.
In Natrona County Circuit Court on Friday, Knox’s bond was set at $50,000.
