At a packed house in the Wildcatter Suites Sunday evening, University of Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman announced the hiring of Craig Bohl as the 32nd head football coach at UW. Bohl receives a 5-year deal, through 2018, and is guaranteed $750,000 in his first year. The contract will escalate each year with incentives.
Brett Smith accounted for 640 yards of total offense, 8 touchdowns and set numerous records, but it was a Stuart Williams 36-yard field goal in overtime that gave the Wyoming Cowboys a 59-56 victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. The two teams combined for 1417 total yards and 115 points in an offensive shootout.
The 16th-ranked Fresno State Bulldogs stayed perfect on the season, as they rolled over the Wyoming Cowboys 48-10 Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium. Derek Carr threw for 360 yards and four touchdowns, as Fresno State kept their dreams of busting the BCS alive.
University of Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen announced early Tuesday that defensive coordinator Chris Tormey has been relieved of his duties on the Cowboy coaching staff effective immediately. Current defensive line coach Jamar Cain has been named the interim defensive coordinator.
David Fales threw for 482 yards and five touchdowns and ran for the game-winning touchdown with 8 seconds left, as the San Jose State Spartans defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 51-44 in California Saturday night. SJSU out-scored UW 37-to-21 in the second half.
Brett Smith accounted for 385 yards of total offense, ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, as the Wyoming Cowboys won their 89th Homecoming game 38-31 over the New Mexico Lobos Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Smith's two t-d runs in the fourth quarter turned out to be the difference, as the Pokes stayed undefeated in the Mountain West.
