Tate And Werner Museums Open On President’s Day
While the rest of the Casper College campus will be closed in celebration of President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 18, the Tate Geological Museum and Werner Wildlife Museum will both be open to the public.
The Tate will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the Werner will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Tate features exhibits and displays highlighting a variety of fossilized specimens from dinosaurs to mammals to plants, as well as a rich collection of gems and minerals from the state. The museum is home to Dee the Mammoth, known scientifically as a Mammuthus columbi. Dee is the largest Columbian mammoth ever found in North America. A gift shop, children’s corner, and preparation lab are also housed in the museum.
The Werner Wildlife Museum is home to species native to Wyoming but also includes a large collection of mammals from Africa and other locations around the world. In addition, the museum houses a display of world-class trophy mounts.
Both museums are free and open to the public.
