It's been a while since a hockey team has called Casper, Wyoming, but the wait is over. Earlier this year, it was announced that the Rock Springs Prospectors would be moving to Casper and changing their name to the Casper Roughneck's and it's time for the season to start.

The Casper Roughnecks take the ice on Friday to kick off their first season at the Casper Ice Arena.

There are hockey players from all over the world playing for the Casper Roughnecks and you can check out all of the action beginning Friday September 22. To give you a taste of what you'll be seeing, the first game is free to the community. You can head to the Casper Ice Arena and root on the team as they take on the Rogue Valley, Oregon Royals.

Doors open at 6:30pm for season ticket holders, 6:45 general admission, 7pm warm-ups and 7:30 the puck drops.

Season tickets are still available for $200 (kids under 5 free). Being a season ticket holder will give you a few special perks. Like early entry, player meet & greets, and exclusive autograph sessions.

The team is part of the U.S. Premiere Hockey League and playing in the Northwest Division with teams from as far as Washington, Utah, Oregon, Nevada and Minnesota. The league is geared to helping players make their way to play college hockey and better their chances of becoming pro hockey players. To date, the league has helped thousands of players make it to college.

It's going to be a great season of hockey in Casper, get out and show your support and welcome the team to town.
