Saturday, 02/25/23, an entire day of blowing snow drifts across the road in front of my house.

It wasn't so bad first thing in the morning.

But I could tell it was just going to get worse, so I stayed home.

Eventually, the road, which runs uphill, was completely covered in several feet of drift.

Cars were getting stuck all day.

I sat in my warm house wondering why anyone would even try going out in that weather.

Finally, it got so bad, the local police showed up and blocked off both ends of the road.

I was stuck at home.

So be it.

But that didn't stop people from running the barriers and, well, getting stuck again.

The sun was setting and I decided to take one more look outside to see...

WOW - are you kidding me?

8 cars stuck in or sorts of odd ways at an intersection.

Here's the video proof.

Nobody was going anywhere.

I called the local police and they sent an officer to help.

I then grabbed a shovel and helped dig some snow from under the tires.

SUDDENLY, and slowly, we heard a loud rumble.

A big machine that eats snow drifts for breakfast and spits it out was coming to the rescue.

It took us 2 hours, even with that big machine, to get everyone moving again.

The officer was complaining to me about people who can see the roadblocks but go anyway.

I offered that it might be better if people did not need roadblocks, but rather just saw the situation and knew better.

Listen to that little voice in your head.

It usually knows what's best.

Snow Crushes Wheatland, Wyoming Airplane Hangars

This row of hangars goes back many years. Some history was lost under a crush of snow.

March 21st, 2021. A record-breaking snowstorm had shut down most of Wyoming and was not yet done. Below is a gallery of photos as cleanup continues.

One of the small airports in Platte County, Wyoming is Phifer Airfield on Antelope Gap Road, east of Wheatland. Platte County has the Wheatland airport, along with one in Torrington and Guernsey. They were all shut down in the storm.
