Get Ready For The 3rd Annual Weatherby Film Festival
Weatherby, a Wyoming gun manufacturer, is based in Sheridan and has called the Cowboy State home since moving here in 2018.
Before relocating to Wyoming, the company was founded as Weatherby's Sporting Goods in California in the 1940s. Over the years, the company has remained in the Weatherby family and evolved from a sporting goods store to a cutting-edge firearm manufacturer.
Since moving to Wyoming, they've been involved in numerous events and have also established the Weatherby Film Festival.
The 3rd Annual Weatherby Film Festival is scheduled for August 1 at the WyoTheater in Sheridan, and tickets are available in advance for $15 or $20 at the door.
Last year, the film festival raised over $40,000 for conservation, and thousands of dollars in prizes were also awarded. According to the Weatherby Instagram account, this year is shaping up to be bigger and better than the previous two years.
At this year's event, you'll have the chance to meet outdoor TV host, hunter, and guide Remi Warren, known from his shows Apex Predator and Solo Hunters.
You can also participate in the photo contest for a chance to win prizes for showing off your photos in three different categories. The deadline to enter photos is July 16.
The three categories are:
Since it is a film festival, if you have a hunting or conservation video you'd like to submit, they're accepting 5-8 minute film submissions. If your film stands out, it may be selected for screening at the festival. You can submit your film for consideration HERE.
The film festival will be full of great hunt films, and includes a once-in-a-lifetime Wyoming Bison hunt. Things get underway on August 1 at a street party on Brundage Street at 4 p.m. The lobby will open at 5 p.m., and the films begin at 7 p.m.
