One of the most challenging things to predict in life is the weather. Now that everyone has a weather source in their pocket, we all think we're weather experts.

Sure, it's nice to have a good idea of whether the weather will ruin your afternoon picnic plans or even a reasonably accurate idea of what the weather will be like for the upcoming weekend. However, the forecast will change almost every time you look at the app.

Long-time weather forecasters and meteorologists would warn you of the inaccuracies of many weather apps. Forecasting the weather is a tricky business. Weather apps use automated computer models that may not use local information in their predictions.

So, leave it to the pros if you want an extended weather forecast you can trust.

I've been a weather lover for a long time. When I got old enough to understand how fascinating weather can be, I was hooked. I've chased storms, been on the radio when severe weather was happening, and had the opportunity to work with a meteorologist who would explain how weather prediction works.

As I mentioned, weather forecasting is tricky, so I always pay attention when the pros release their severe weather outlooks, especially regarding tornadoes.

One of the pros I follow is an extreme storm chaser with a meteorology PhD named Reed Timmer. Over the years, Reed has been on some gnarly storm chases and has been chasing them for a long time.

Reed has posted predictions from his Team Dominator for tornadoes in Wyoming in 2025. Last year, they predicted fifteen tornadoes in Wyoming, but there were only officially five. This year, the prediction is at 10, which is good if you're not a fan of severe weather.

Just a couple of years ago, I caught this tornado over Laramie Peak. It was an incredible thing to watch and capture.
