Everywhere you look in Wyoming, the numbers 3-0-7 can be found. On signs, on hats & shirts, many colorful tattoos have them, and even businesses use the numbers in their name.

3-0-7 is a special number for sure.

The only reason it's really special, though, is because it's Wyoming's number. The lone area code in the state could be likened to Wyoming's brand.

When the phrase "Ride for the brand" is used, it signifies loyalty and dedication.

If it weren't for shows like Yellowstone, that phrase wouldn't be as common as it is today. It's likely, except for those who were raised or have lived in Wyoming for a long period of time, that people had no idea where the term brand came from.

Sure, you see the brand on the clothes, car, and appliances you buy at the store, but those are just the modern version of a rancher's brand. Brands have been used on livestock since the 16th century.

Ranch brands are defined as permanent ownership identification, deterring theft, and making it easier to trace animals.

If 307 is your brand, you're likely loyal to Wyoming. Live by the Wyoming code & traditions, and bleed brown & gold.

I wonder if people from the other 11 states with only one area code are the same.

Yeah, I was today years old, too, when I found out there were 12 states with only one area code. I did know that Montana (406) and South Dakota (605) were one area code states, but had no idea there were so many.

I can almost bet that none of the others wear their area brand like Wyomingites wear 307.
