LARAMIE -- Just mere hours after Michigan cut down the nets Monday night in Indianapolis, the NCAA Transfer Portal opened.

Hundreds of players across the country over the next two weeks will hit the open market.

Five former Wyoming Cowboys are already in search of their next landing spot.

Damarion Dennis was the first to announce his departure, just seven days after the Pokes were bounced in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament by Wichita State. The sophomore guard averaged 11.2 points per game, the third most nightly offensive production on the roster.

Adam Harakow and Jared Harris, both guards, along with forwards Abou Magassa and Simm-Marten Saadi, have also sent out the "Dear John" letters on social media. That trio all served as role players during the 18-win campaign.

Around here, we've become accustomed to worst-case scenarios this time of year. Double-digit players flocking to free agency. That hasn't been the case in Year 3 of the Sundance Wicks era.

Ask most fans who the real "keepers" were from last season's roster and you'll typically hear two names: Naz Meyer and Gavin Gores.

Those rookie building blocks, along with senior guard Uriyah Rojas, have already recommitted to the program and will return this fall. Khaden Bennett, who averaged 10.2 points per game, also announced Tuesday he will return. Not that it was ever really in question, but big man Neil Summers isn't going anywhere, either. The Laramie product also has "unfinished business" after redshirting last season.

Meyer was the team's second-leading scorer, averaging nearly 13 points a night. No one hauled in more rebounds (4.9) than the Los Angeles product, either. Gores, a 6-foot-10 Wisconsin native, netted 7.3 per game and added 3.4 boards. Rojas could have the inside track to the starting point guard spot, replacing Leland Walker, who splashed 13.5 points an outing.

The portal closes April 21.
