A Big Piney man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 189 south of Daniel.

Cory J. Sequera, 26, died at the scene Tuesday night. He was not wearing his seat belt, according to a statement from Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck.

Sequera was southbound in a 2014 Ford Escape when, at roughly 9:15 p.m. near milepost 123, his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2009 Dodge Ram.

The pickup truck was driven by 22-year-old Cassidy Jensen, of Pinedale. She also was not wearing her seat belt and was taken to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for medical treatment.

The crash remains under investigation, Beck said.

Sequera is the 22nd person to die on Wyoming highways in 2019. By this point last year, 12 people had died, compared with 10 fatalities to date in 2017 and 9 highway deaths by this point in 2016.
