The honorees are selected based on their academic performance and their athletic accomplishments. Wright held a 4.0 GPA this past year while also qualifying to the NCAA Championships in his 157-pound weight class.

Wright finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 20-8 record, including two falls. The Dinuba, Calif., product is 37-14 overall on the mat during his Wyoming career.

This marks Wright’s second academic/athletic accomplishment of the season. He was also named first-team Big 12 All-Academic as one of just nine wrestlers in the conference to post a 4.0 GPA.

CoSIDA first-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-Americans will be announced in mid-June.
