I used to purchase flowers online in hopes of saving a buck or two.  But after a few bad experiences with wilted flowers and horrible customer service, I learned my lesson and went back to my trusted local florist. And I'm not the only one who has had issues, especially over the past weekend, as online flower purchasers took to social media to blast retailers about their poor experiences.

If Valentine's Day is the Super Bowl for flower retailers, then 1-800-Flowers just got spanked like the Denver Broncos did by Seattle Seahawks in Superbowl 48.

There are hundreds of tweets circulating this week, criticizing 1-800-Flowers for botching their Valentine's Day flower deliveries.

In this day and age people can instantly show their friends and the world their dissatisfaction when a company or business messes up even a little bit.  And apparently 1-800-Flowers screwed up a lot over the recent lovers holiday.  Photos of wilted flowers, incorrect orders, ugly arrangements, and crushed chocolates are going around on Facebook and Twitter.

And many other folks are also tweeting complaints because their Valentine's Day flowers still haven't been delivered!

1-800-Flowers is slowly answering people on Twitter, mostly asking people to follow them so they can direct message about the problem.  From a marketing stand point, its almost as if they're using their Valentine's Day disaster to get more followers.  Not the best way to get the word out about your company.

It will be interesting to see what happens with 1-800-Flowers and other online flower retailers on a business level and see if these companies see a decline in sales or not?
