When you think of music in Wyoming, the name that comes to mind almost automatically is Chris LeDoux. It was a sad day 14 years ago when we learned that Chris had passed away. It was March 9, 2005.

There aren't enough hours in the day to fully document what Chris LeDoux meant to those of us that call Wyoming home. You can spend hours watching videos of his rodeo rides and his many concerts. He was just the almost perfect combination of what we love about our state.

As the Wikipedia page about Chris mentions, Chris was diagnosed with a disease that required a liver transplant in 2000. Four years later, he learned he had cancer of the liver.

It's still remarkable to me that his friend, Garth Brooks, offered him part of his liver and the only thing that stopped that from happening was Garth's liver was not compatible with Chris.

Do you remember where you were on this day back in 2005 when the news of the death of Chris was broadcast on CMT?

It doesn't feel like it's been 14 years since Chris passed. That's probably due in part to the fact that his music will live with us forever.
