Well, that's exactly what happened Saturday night. Evan Svoboda made his first-career start under center and was poised in the pocket while keeping the undermanned Cowpokes in this one. His friend Harrison Waylee helped calm nerves on the first drive of the game, busting a 62-yard touchdown run on the fifth offensive play from scrimmage.

Wyoming showed it belonged, limiting the Longhorns' high-powered offense to just 87 yards through the air after three. Quinn Ewers looked anything but like the guy who carved up Alabama last Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

That is until the fourth.

Texas scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to move to 3-0 on the season after this 31-10 victory. The visitors now have a blemish on their record, but this one served as the ultimate confidence booster with App State heading to Laramie next week.

Here are a few interesting stats from this one:

That's the highest Texas has been ranked since finishing No. 2 in the Associated Press poll back in 2009, the same year the Longhorns fell to Alabama in the national championship game. Will they move up in the polls? not likely.

That's how many points the Cowboys' defense held Texas to through three quarters Saturday night. The 'Horns averaged 35.5 points per game through the first two weeks. They eventually rolled up 21 points in the fourth quarter to reach 31.

That's how many passing yards Ewers had through the first three quarters. The Texas gunslinger added 44 over the final 15 minutes to reach 131 on the night. Ewers and Co. were averaging 324.5 passing yards per game after two weeks.

That's how many rushing yards Jonathon Brooks rolled up in this one, 61 of which came on a fourth-down run. Wyoming had yet to give up 100 yards on the ground to a team this season let alone a player. Texas finished with 185 on 31 carries.

Speaking of rushing yards. Wyoming running back Harrison Waylee rolled up this many against the Longhorns in this one. Sixty-two of those came on a first-quarter touchdown run. Waylee, a transfer from Northern Illinois, made his Wyoming debut tonight after recovering from offseason knee surgery.

That's how many 100-yard games Waylee now has in his career. This was his first in a Cowboys' uniform.

That's how many catches Wyatt Wieland snagged against Texas. The former walk-on racked up a team-best 62 receiving yards in the loss.

That's how many different receivers caught passes from Svoboda in Austin. Devin Boddie and Treyton Welch both snagged three and Ayir Asante hauled in two. John Michael Gyllenborg also pulled down a big third-down grab on the opening drive.

That's how many sacks Wyoming tallied in this one. That came courtesy of defensive end Sabastian Harsh, the first of his young career. It also knocked Texas out of field-goal range in the third quarter. The Longhorns only finished with one sack on Svoboda in this one, too.

That's how many tackles Easton Gibbs registered against Texas, a team high. Wyett Ekeler finished with nine and Harsh finished with seven.

That's how many catches former Wyoming wide receiver Isaiah Neyor ended up with in the 31-10 win. In fact, he never even saw the field. Neyor entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after two seasons in Laramie. He caught 52 passes for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns in a UW uniform.

That's the Longhorns' third-down conversion rate Saturday night. Texas started 0-6 in this category and was just 2-of-9 after three quarters.

That's how many turnovers Wyoming had in this loss. Svoboda was picked off in the fourth quarter by UT defensive back Jerrin Thompson, who returned the interception 27 yards untouched to the end zone.

That's Wyoming's time of possession in this game compared to just 21:13 for Texas. More than 10 minutes of that came on a 17-play, 77-yard drive in the third quarter. That culminated in a 36-yard field goal off the right foot of John Hoyland.
