Campbell County Suffers As Economy Goes Bust
They say a photo is worth a thousand words and this photo shows the effect of the thousand plus workers laid off in Campbell county.
With coal firms reducing work force locally, the trickle down effect will hit all of Wyoming as this bust continues. But in Gillette, the effects have been immediate and especially devastating.
The photo above shows a line of hundreds of people looking for food assistance in a Home Depot parking lot in Gillette, where a Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies had set up a distribution truck.
Many more are fearful for their jobs and lively hoods as many dozens of industries depend on those living and working in the energy arena. Everything from restaurants and grocery stores to clothing and retail outlets, not to mention business services focused on providing support to the energy industry.
The Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies could not be reached for immediate comment or for information on how we can show our support, but donations are always greatly appreciated.
Hang on, Wyoming! Much of of the Cowboy state will be in for a rough ride this year. We can only hope a quick recovery is on the way.
