Two local organizations will present changes to the current bus routes in Casper at an open house at Wyoming Independent Living, 305 W. First St., from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a  news release.

Staffs from the Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Casper Area Transportation Coalition (CATC) will host the open house to being a 45-day comment period about the new bus routes, according to a news release from the MPO.

"This is an opportunity to explore changes that improved the efficiency of the overall bus system in light of increasing costs," MPO Supervisor Aaron Kloke said in the news release.

Changes to the current public transit system may include removing or moving bus stops.

They also may modify the service of the Yellow, Red, Green and Blue fixed-bus routes. (See map.)

Earlier this year, Casper City Council proposed budget cuts to the The Bus -- the fixed-route bus system -- and the demand-response bus system called CATC that drew outrage from the people who depend on both for transportation to work, medical appointments, and basic necessities such as shopping.

All participants in the open house will receive a free bus token. Refreshments will be available, too.
