Experience an afternoon of beauty, as the Casper Civic Chorale presents its fall concert Human/Nature, which features musical literature that explores humankind's fascination with nature.

"It all has to do with, how do humans relate to nature, how do they see themselves within nature?" explains Musical Director Steve Grussendorf. "For instance, one of the songs we're doing is 'My Wild Irish Rose'. So this guy is talking about this girl that he's in love with and he scribes her as a wild Irish rose, so you can see how that nature and the human, that interaction happens, and that's happening in every single song that we're doing".

Other highlights of the concert include include several songs which are settings of poems written by Robert Frost, The Pasture and Choose Something Like a Star, John Rutter's For the Beauty of the Earth, and the spiritual, Deep River.

"Really, what it is, is using the river to describe the process that a human goes through from life," Grussendorf says, "and going into death and into the afterlife. And talking about 'I'm going to cross over Jordan to the other side' and that is the process of death."

He says many of the Chorale members have remarked that it's some of the most beautiful music he's chosen for a concert.

"I would just say to anybody out there who's thinking 'gosh, do I want to go to this concert on a Sunday afternoon?' I can guarantee you, you will hear beauty," he says,  "and I think it would be a sad thing to miss."
