A Casper baseball team will be gone fishing for the 2015 season.

The Casper Cutthroats have announced there will not be a team in 2015.

The Mountain Collegiate Baseball League no longer exists, and team management says by the time they found out about that, it was too late to join other leagues in the region.

Without a league, management says it is nearly impossible to form a competitive schedule that would be beneficial to the players, enjoyable to the fans and profitable to keep the team sustainable.

Plans are in the works for 2016.

The team won the MCBL championship in 2014.
