Casper Fundraiser Shines The Light On Suicide Prevention and Education
The Mattie Project: How to Save a Life Charity Date Auction is an awareness and fundraising event to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and for the Wyoming Chapter, which is in development.
The event will take place Saturday night April 7th at the Wolcott Galleria, 136 S Wolcott and it begins at 6PM.
Nine men and nine women from Natrona County will be auctioned off for dates which are sponsored by various restaurants and businesses. The participants range from pilots to teachers to rescue workers and everything in between. The evening will also include a live DJ and dance, food, drinks and various raffles so even if you are not interested in bidding on a date, there will be plenty to entertain you.
Proceeds will fund suicide prevention research, education and support programs both locally and nationally. Event organizer Dawn Cundy lost her brother to suicide this last November and was looking for a way to shine the light on the topic of suicide and prevention.
My hope is that by telling my brothers story, one that consists of a perfect childhood, wonderful friends, a loving family and support system, that suicide can happen to any one at any time.
Tickets for the event can be picked up in advance for 8$ at Galloways, Dsaumo, Sonic Rainbow, Sunrise Images and Keyhole Technologies. They can also be purchased at the door the night of the event for 10$.
