A Canadian woman was arrested early Wednesday after she allegedly assaulted a Casper police officer as she held an infant.

Hampton, New Brunswick resident Kayla Ann Lord, 27, was arrested early Wednesday on recommended charges of assaulting a police officer, child endangerment, disturbing the peace and domestic battery.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Casper police were called to Wyoming Ale Works at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported that Lord and Joshua Baldwin had drunk too much and were causing a scene in the restaurant.

Restaurant employees cut Lord and Baldwin off.

Police learned that Lord and Baldwin recently moved to the Casper area and were having drinks with a friend before the incident.

At some point, Lord allegedly elbowed Baldwin in his face.

While officers interviewed Lord, she allegedly became very aggressive and began screaming obscenities at officers, according to the affidavit. At one point, Lord allegedly said something to the effect of, "My family is full of judges and lawyers and I will sue you."

Throughout the incident, Lord was allegedly holding an infant. Officers watched her bend down several times to put the baby in a car seat and they were concerned for the child's safety. When officers told Lord to hand over the baby, she refused.

As she was holding the baby, the affidavit says, Lord kicked an officer in the groin before immediately headbutting him.

Officers were able to separate the child from Lord and immediately took her to the ground, the affidavit says.

According to the affidavit, Lord had to be forcibly placed in the back of a patrol car. At some point, she vomited in the car. When police got her to the Natrona County Detention Center, several detention deputies had to carry her in, the affidavit says.

The Wyoming Department of Family Services took custody of the child.

Baldwin was also arrested for public intoxication.
