Free Splash Pad At David Street Station Closed Indefinitely

As we approach Labor Day Weekend, families will begin winding down their summer activities. Camping trips, swimming, floating, and long-weekend getaways will all be happening this weekend.

One thing that won't be happening this weekend is heading to the splash pad at David Street Station. This summer has been rough on the free pad: the button that turns on the water system has been broken and has needed multiple repairs, and now the whole system needs some TLC.

Yesterday, it was announced that the pad is closed for the season.

If you've ever owned an irrigation system at your house, you know how often repairs need to be made, especially if you use it regularly. The same goes for the splash pad system. Over time, constant use wears things out and requires repairs or replacement.

According to David Street, the system is nearly 9 years old, and it will take some time to get things ready to roll for summer of 2027.

I'm sure you're aware that David Street Station is a nonprofit, so finding the money to buy parts, pay labor, and get the system fixed can be difficult because I'm sure repairing the splash pad system wasn't in their annual plan.
