Casper Kicks Off Another Big Road Project This Spring
Casper has seen a large number of road construction projects to improve the city, and it seems we're not done yet. The construction project on Poplar that's been ongoing for the last couple of years is scheduled to start the next phase this spring.
WyDOT announced the Poplar re-hab project's $12.8 million next phase was approved by the Wyoming Transportation Commission
Oftedal Construction Inc., will reconstruct Poplar Street between CY Avenue and West Collins Drive. The project will include new concrete pavement, curb and gutters; a new traffic signal at Collins intersection, as well as new street lights; new stormwater control and other utility improvements, and landscaping. The project is approximately one-half of a mile in length.
The start date hasn't been announced yet, but the project will last at least 2 + years, with the completion date set for September 2028. If you remember the project that's been ongoing for the last couple of years, you'll surely remember how frustrating it was not only for drivers but also for businesses in the area. So, if you travel along Poplar from CY Ave north, you may want to start planning for your alternate route.
We'll be in full-on construction season before long, and not only did the Transportation Commission award the Casper project, but they also awarded eight other contracts. All nine together total up to $35 million to commit to improvement projects statewide. You can see the complete list of projects and follow along for status updates at dot.state.wy.us.
