Three school zones will be the focus of this week's high visibility traffic enforcement in Casper. The Casper Police Department says for the week of January 22nd, 2018,  Officer Darren Douglas will be conducting extra enforcement in the following areas:

  • School Zones around Oregon Trail Elementary School
  • School Zones around Journey Elementary School
  • School Zones around Natrona County High School

The numbers of tickets showed a drop in last week's enforcement around Kelly Walsh High School and Sagewood Elementary. 18 traffic stops were made in those school zones with 28 tickets issued for traffic violations. The previous week's count was 77 traffic stops and 103 tickets in the schools zones located around Natrona County High School and Centennial Junior High.

A high volume of traffic complaints prompted the weekly extra enforcement efforts, which the Casper Police Department posts on their Facebook Page.

From the Casper Police Department:

"CPD is encouraging everyone in our community to be conscientious while driving through school zones. By advertising these school zones each week CPD is hopeful that individual’s habits and driving patterns will be altered while driving around our community. CPD would like to thank the drivers who obey each and every school zone in our community!"

We will post the enforcement locations each week, along with the results of those efforts.
