Casper Woman Denies Physically Abusing Vulnerable Adult

A Casper woman is denying accusations that she verbally and physically abused an adult suffering from multiple sclerosis.

Appearing in Natrona County District Court Friday, Jayme L. Bauer, born in 1964, pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse of a vulnerable adult and domestic battery.

At the time of the incident, Bauer lived with the victim.

On January 23, police were called to a Casper residence after a care provider dropped the victim off at Bauer's residence. The care provider called 911 because she heard Bauer screaming at the victim, according to court documents.

Upon entering the home, the police officer observed the victim lying on the ground.

A care provider told the police officer that after the victim fell, Bauer began to scream at the victim and slap his legs. She then shoved the victim, causing him to fall on the floor. After that, she struck the victim in the head.

Care providers told the police officer that there were several cases of Bauer verbally and physically abusing the victim. Police were given several incident reports detailing events involving Bauer.

The reports detailed an incident in September where Bauer allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair in order to make him stand up straight. In December, Bauer allegedly grabbed the victim by the face, shoving him upwards while screaming at him. That caused the victim to fall into a bath tub.

The care provider who transported the victim to the residence told police she heard Bauer yell, "Just (expletive) crawl on the floor." The provider reported being able to hear this while standing on the sidewalk outside of the home.

Bauer could face up to 10 years in prison for the abuse of a vulnerable adult charge and $10,000 in fines if convicted. She also faces up to six months in jail and a fine of $750 if convicted of the domestic violence charge.

As of Friday's hearing, Bauer was free on bond.
