The Cowgirls received the Mountain West’s automatic bid to the tournament after finishing second in the league standings. Since the league champion, UNLV, earned the NCAA’s auto bid, the WNIT bid goes to the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls are 22-10 on the season, their most single-season victories since 2019. Wyoming is coming off a 71-60 loss in the Mountain West Tournament Championship Game to top-seeded and nationally-ranked UNLV.

"It didn't fall our way, but I've got a team that's still ready to fight and still ready to come every day and ready to go," UW's first-year head coach Heather Ezell said in Las Vegas. "That's what I love about coaching this team."

UW made it to the third round of last season’s WNIT, losing 82-81 in triple overtime to UCLA.

Wyoming will find out when, where and who it will play when the full bracket is announced Monday. The Cowgirls are 19-9 all-time in the WNIT, including winning the 2007 title.

"I think it's going to be fun," senior guard Quinn Weidemann said. "A lot of times we get home games for WNIT, and it's comforting knowing that we did the work early this season that we get to play postseason."

San Diego State, Colorado State and New Mexico will also be in the WNIT field.

From Bison to Triceratops - All of Wyoming's Official Things

Every state in our nation has chosen things that represent the state in one way or another to be official state things. Like a flower, or animal. Wyoming is no different.

The Equality State, or the Cowboy State, depending on which state slogan you want to go with, has a state flower. But did you know we also have a state tree and a state fish? Yes, we even have a state code.

To be an official thing, a member of the state legislature must write and submit a bill to the legislature declaring that a thing will be the official state thing. Then the legislature votes to pass the bill, or not, if it passes, the governor signs the bill into law and we have a new official state thing.

Here is what we have so far, all of Wyoming's official things. Now you can win big on Wyo Trivia Night if that's a thing that exists.
