The Wyoming state song was officially adopted 63 years ago today. Co-written by a judge and newspaper publisher in 1903, "Wyoming" became popular when Governor Fenimore Chatterton sang it at a convention.

In 1913, the original version was copyrighted and endorsed as the state song by the Wyoming Press Association. In 1920, the melody was re-written by a music professor at the Univerisity of Wyoming, who copyrighted and released his version. On February 15, 1955, Governor Milward Simpson issued a proclamation, officially declaring it as the Wyoming State Song.
