You're My Best Friend was written by Wayland Holyfield and recorded by one of the greats, Don Williams, in 1975.

Before making it big, Don was a member of Pozo-Seco Singers, a '60s folk group.  Don, and his trademark cowboy hat have also made several television and movie appearances over the years.  A good friend of Burt Reynolds, Don played "Leroy" in WW And The Dixie Dancekings, and had a cameo, as himself in Smokey And The Bandit II.

Don was awarded the Country Music Association's "Male Vocalist of the Year" trophy in 1978.  His European fans bestowed him with "Country Music Star of the Decade" honors in 1980.
