Most western states of the United States are slowly coming out of the latest drought cycle and into the next cycle of wet weather.

That's good news for a lot of reasons, least of all are 4th of July celebrations.

For those areas still stuck in drought for a bit longer, what if, instead of fireworks, we had a drone light show in the sky.

HOLD ON- before you let out that GROAN! I have some video examples, below, that will blow you away.

The point of the 4th fireworks is to recreate what happened on a rainy September 13, 1814,  as British warships sent a downpour of shells and rockets onto Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor, relentlessly pounding the American fort for 25 hours.

Francis Scott Key was a being held aboard a British ship and saw it all.

He wrote the Star-Spangled Banner based on seeing our young nation's flag still flying in defiance, all night, through the "rockets red glare."

That is why we send up fireworks on the 4th.

We are celebrating the fact that American's stood firm despite the horrifying pummeling they were receiving that night.

The rockets lighting up the sky showed that we were not going to replace our red white and blue with a pure white flag.

WE LOVE OUR FIREWORKS!

But if we can't have them due to drought then what can we do?

Incline Village in Nevada, for example, won’t have fireworks light up the sky this Fourth of July.

Instead, they will have a drone show.

Watch the video below to see what I mean.

In Colorado, at least half a dozen cities will do the same.

Modern-day fireworks shows are computer-controlled to light up the sky with the music being played. The same is true with a drone show.

A company is hired and arrives with 200 drones or more, depending on how much money is spent.

The drones have various different colored lights on them.

They follow the program that is prewritten and broadcast to them as they take off into the sky.

The music plays. The drones fly around and make a wonderful show in the night sky.

It's just disappointing that nothing goes BOOM!

Well... actually the drones can be made to mimic the shapes of fireworks and the speakers playing the music will provide the popular BOOM! effect.

No word yet from Wyoming. But then again most of Wyoming has reached a state where they might actually be able to show fireworks this year.

Chugwater's Hysterical Pie Eating Contest.

One of Wyoming's smallest towns added a new event. A PIE EATING CONTEST.

The rules are simple:

Not hands allowed.

Eat as much as you can before time is up.

The results are hysterical.

Wyoming's High Jumping Rodeo Horses

Horses have different ideas on how to get a cowboy off their back.

The most common way they try is actually the least effective way.

But it is so much fun to watch.
